What is Squalane?
Squalane is a lightweight emollient. The stable, hydrogenated form of squalene. Rated 0-1, lightweight, and one of the go-to fungal-acne-safe emollients. Do not confuse with squalene.
Where Squalane shows up
You'll most often find Squalane in lightweight moisturisers and 'fungal-acne-safe' formulations. Separately from clogging, its irritancy is rated 0/5 โ low, so it's unlikely to sting or sensitise on its own.
Is Squalane bad for acne-prone skin?
That low score makes Squalane a reasonable choice even for acne-prone skin. As always, individual reactions vary, but it is not a likely cause of clogged pores.
